Can A NISMO GT-R, Acura NSX Type S, Or C8 ‘Vette Keep Up With A Porsche 911 Turbo S?

Posted on May 16, 2022 by mangakiko

The Acura NSX Type S, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, and Chevrolet Corvette Stingray are four of the quickest and most exhilarating performance cars on the market but which of them is the one best-suited to the drag strip?

To answer that question, the guys over at Throttle House pitted these four against each other for a series of drag races at the Willow Springs International Raceway in the US

First, the numbers. Starting with the GT-R Nismo, it is equipped with a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 rated at 592 hp and 481 lb-ft (652 Nm) of torque, meaning it matches up very well with the Acura NSX Type S that has a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6, three electric motors, and produces a combined 600 hp and 492 lb-ft (667 Nm). Leading the pack is the 992-generation 911 Turbo S with its twin-turbo 3.8-liter flat-six muscling out 640 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm).

As for the C8 Corvette, it is underpowered compared to the rest, rated at 495 hp and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm).

The first race features the GT-R Nismo, NSX Type S, and the C8 Corvette. All three sprints off the line exceptionally well but it is the Nissan that takes an early lead and holds on to it for the entire race, finishing ahead of the Acura in second and the Corvette in third.

A rolling race is then held between the trio and while the Corvette was left behind, the GT-R and NSX Type S were exceptionally close but ultimately, the Nissan just claimed the win.

The last race features the GT-R Nismo and the 911 Turbo S. Despite how accelerative the Nissan is, it has no hope of keeping up with the Porsche and gets left in the dust.
