Florida landed one of the top point guards in this offseason’s NCAA transfer portal when St. Bonaventure’s Kyle Lofton elected to sign with the program. He spent the last four seasons with the Bonnies and has one year of eligibility remaining.
Lofton accumulated 1,613 points and 604 assists, starting in all 116 appearances. He also shot 42% from the field and over 80% from the charity stripe. Last season, the 6-foot-3 point guard averaged 12.8 points, 5.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 38 minutes per game.
“We are excited to bring Kyle into our program here at Florida,” head coach Todd Golden said in a release. “Kyle has experienced a lot of success both from a team and individual standpoint during his time at St. Bonaventure. He’s a proven winner and leader. He makes others around him better and cares only about one thing: winning. ”
Lofton is the fourth transfer Golden has brought in this offseason along with Belmont guard Will Richard, VMI guard Trey Bonham and LSU forward Alex Fudge. Look for Florida to add a few more players through the portal since it has a few more scholarships available to use.
