(WXYZ) – From being an Eagle Scout to an A-grader to even a talented drummer, Grant Harrison has a lot to be proud of, but for this 17-year-old, his crowning achievement is writing a bestseller for kids. book.
“People in the community have reached out to me about how inspiring it is and how they literally cried while reading it, and I think this is a lot bigger than I thought it would be,” said Grant Harrison, best-selling author on Amazon.
‘Will You Be My Friend’ takes readers back to when Grant entered a school talent show, excited to show off his drumming skills but overwhelmed by his battle with Asperger’s syndrome.
“I had anxiety, I was restless and … so it’s about getting through all of that with the help of your friends and family and just persevering,” Grant said.
And with the support of his family, especially his mother, Grant continues to conquer challenges.
“I think I interpret a lot of things differently, like the world around me differently, like I think of different solutions or different ways of solving a problem, so it kind of deviates from what most people do.” , said.
Meanwhile, in the literary world, with more than 500 books sold since April 1, critics also approve. As for which part of the book makes it home, Grants says it’s the second page.

Grant plans to write more books in the future, but with a fellowship from Oakland University, for now, he’s excited to pursue computer science and music.
